Did you know that the Warragul Show has been going for 133 years? Put this date in your diary – Saturday 3rd March for all the fun of the show. Old favourites plus lots of new events. Entry fees: Adults $15, Children 12 and under $5, Pensioners $10, Family Ticket $30 (admits 2 adults and family members 12 years and under and vehicle),Public Parking $2, Exhibitor’s Ticket $25. Horse events will be held the following day, on Sunday 4th March.

FEBRUARY 2018

Massive second hand book sale – Saturday 24th February in the  hall, Howitt Street, Warragul.

 

The Jindivick Flower and Craft Show  will be happening on Sunday 25th February from 10.30 to 3.00pm at the Jindivick Hall, Jacksons Track.  Admission $5.00 per adult, children free.  For a real day out in the country visit Jindivick – stalls, sausage sizzle, craft demonstrations, fire brigade display, morning and afternoon tea with lovely home cooked goodies, activities for kids, also an auction which starts at 3.30pm.  Not to be missed.

 

Warragul Farmers’ Market and Warragul Arts’ Market on Saturday 17th February.  Fantastic atmosphere.  Music.  Dozens of stalls.  Fresh local produce: fruit, vegetables, local lamb, beef, fish, home made cakes, preserves, jams etc etc. plus all the wonderful hand made items of craft, children’s clothes, art, gifts, metal work etc etc at the Arts’ Market.  Don’t miss visiting this really great event.

 

The West Gippsland Arts Centre which as been undergoing a massive $13.4 million renovation,  has now reached the halfway mark with the fourth and final level now under construction. The new look cafe and bar areas off the main foyer together with new level three and four wrap around balcony foyers, should have amazing views and will be the highlight of the development! 

The Circus Royale is coming to Warragul!

If you’re staying a little while at Camellia Cottage and have time to drive up to Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort, they now have the addition of a second baby dingo. This pup has been given the name ‘Warragul’ which is an indigenous word in the local Gurnnau Kurnai language, and ‘Warragul’ joins the resident pup ‘Rowdy’. You can also join a unique walking tour with the guests being joined by the dingos on guided tours through the mountain’s scenic and picturesque trails.

Queen’s Baton Relay event – Sunday 11th February

Exciting News! Warragul has been selected to be a celebration community as part of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR).  Queen’s Baton Relay event will commence at the Warragul Leisure Centre in Burke Street and conclude at Civic Park, which is right behind Camellia Cottage on-the-Park, so you won’t have to walk far to be of all the excitement and events planned for the day!  

The Civic Park event is a family friendly community celebration and will include formalities and an opportunity to share time with Baton, street parade, children’s entertainment, free healthy barbecues, displays, music and activities. January 2018

Australia Day, Friday January 26th will be celebrated with community breakfasts and barbecues right across the district.  Celebrations begin in Warragul on Thursday night at the Baw Baw Shire’s award ceremony. On Friday the Warragul Municipal Band will be playing, andthe Scouts and Guides will have a flag raising in Civic Park at 11.30am, followed by a citizenship presentation.

At nearby Neerim on Saturday 27th January, there will be an exciting Twilight Rodeo at the Neerim Recreation Reserve with the gates opening at 4pm for a commencement of the rodeo at 6pm.  This is a family event and there is a strict no alcohol policy.

Have you ever been to a country show?  Well, Neerim District 101st Country Show is on on Sunday 28th January from 10 am.  It will have all the old favourites: woodchopping event, dog high jump event, sheep shearing, lawn mower races, exhibitions of trade and of course plenty of amusements.   For tickets and more details check out Neerim District Country Show
